Dear Hamish,

I am happy to respond to your request with this letter of reference.

My partner and I first used the building and renovating skills of Hamiish Murray when Flat 2 of our villa conversion became vacant towards the end of summer in 2007.

Hamish provided excellent service with repair work inside and outside the flat. The exterior work including demolishing a ramp and re-building the set of steps the ramp had replaced when the villa was an old peoples home.

As our experience with Hamish's work and his consultative approach was good, we asked him to work for us again 'in April 2008 when Flat 3 became vacant. Hamish was able to fit the work at short notice and was very willing to work around the shift patterns of the new tenant 'in Flat 2.

When the extent of work required was found to be more extensive than originally foreseen, Hamish was able to recommend and coordinate the subcontractors required to complete the plumbing, plastering and glazing that was necessary. The work was of high standard.

The work on this second occasion involved demolition and re-construction of the bathroom, rebuilding an internal wall, re-building the connecting walls between a large skylight and the bathroom ceiling, removal and replacement of rotting timber (both structural and decorative). replacement of a sash window, and the replacement of 3 decks (*including piles) and steps.

Hamish's advice and flexibility was greatly appreciated.
